The Wings Event Center, also known as Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo, which has hosted artists like Elton John, Elvis Presley, ZZ Top, Judas Priest, and so many more, has announced it'll be closing permanently in the Spring of 2028.

This comes from WWMT, which said they confirmed the closure through a letter sent to hockey families on Wednesday by the Kalamazoo Optimist Hockey Association.

This comes just days after Wings West and Old Burdick's at Wings West announced that they, too, would be shutting down for good. Alicia Salazar Walbridge left a comment under the post of WWMT's Facebook post that gives some insight as to why they're shutting down:

This summer, the Wings West ice plant suffered a severe failure that has been under extensive review. After careful consideration with our property owner, Catalyst Development, we must share the very difficult news that the Wings West facility, including Old Burdick’s at Wings West, will close following our last day of service on Friday, September 12.

She went on to express her feelings on the community they've built over the years:

For many years, Wings West has been more than a building. It has been a gathering place, a training ground, and a second home for athletes, families, and fans. We are deeply grateful for the support, spirit, and memories you’ve shared with us here.

Those who have enjoyed concerts at the Wings Event Center over the years, feel free to message us on the chat button on our app and let us know your best memories, before it's gone forever.
