Weird Al Yankovic Promises to be “Bigger & Weirder” in Return to Kalamazoo
When last we saw Weird Al Yankovic in Kalamazoo, he wasn't doing the show you might expect from the polka parody king. No, it was back in 2023 at the Kalamazoo State Theatre, and he was on the "Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour." Basically, he was playing most of his original music, and very little of what the world came to know him for.
It was still a fun show, but for those who love Al, the big draw is always the parodies, and in his upcoming return to Kalamazoo, he's putting the "Weird" back in Weird Al.
After taking his self-indulgent show on the road the last two years, Weird Al is back to his ultimate form, and loading up to his namesake once again.
The Weird Al Yankovic "Bigger and Weirder" tour is officially on, and Kalamazoo is on the list. In fact, Michigan is on the list multiple times.
First, he'll be up in Traverse City for the Cherry Festival next July, and then pop down to Pine Knob in Clarkston the next night.
After that, it's another two months before he returns to Michigan, and plays Miller Auditorium in Kalamazoo on Western Michigan's campus.
Tickets are already on sale, despite the show being a year away. That being said, I'm already on that list of people who have bought tickets. I have NO idea where I'll be, or what I'll be doing in a year, but no matter what, I'll be making the pilgrimage to Miller Auditorium to get my "White and Nerdy" on, and it's gonna be a "Party in the CIA" baby.
I'm a firm believer that, if the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame can let in non-rock and roll people, then the GOAT of parody polka deserves a spot in its hallowed halls, too.
