Tony Hawk And A Detroit Chef Are Opening A Restaurant Downtown In 2027

Legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk and influential Detroit partners are set to open a brand new restaurant in downtown Detroit.

The restaurant is called A Toda Madre ATM, and will be opening in early 2027 at the Shepherd in Detroit.

Tony Hawk is teaming up with locally acclaimed chef George Azar, who leads the team at Flowers of Vietnam, blending food, art, music, culture, and skateboarding all in one. They are confident this new concept will become one of Detroit's most exciting new cultural landmarks, as they described on their Instagram post.

In a Facebook post, one man expressed his excitement and shared his experience of Tony Hawk's kindness:

He is one of the most down-to-earth celebrities you could imagine. Makes you feel like a long-time friend when you meet him. He even gave me a lil private skateboard lesson on his own half pipe when some members of the band I was driving for laughed as I almost fell.

He also shared a very intimate story he shared with another well-known skater Bob Burnquist:

Bob Burnquist was there, filming an episode of Tony’s podcast, the same day Tony held his, Kurt Cobain, and Courtney Love’s grandchild for the first time. I was in the parking lot airdropping some clips to Bob when I kinda just say “man, today is probably gonna be the coolest day of my life.” Bob stopped what he was doing, looked me in the eye for a second with a smile, and just goes “yeah, mine too.”
