Michigan is about to get blasted with an excessive amount of heat and the potential for severe thunderstorms in the middle of the week.
Michigan Storm Chasers are closely monitoring the weather on Wednesday, June 10, and Thursday, June 11, for both excessive heat concerns and the potential for severe thunderstorms throughout Southwest Michigan.
In a recent Facebook post, they detail their main areas of concern and potentially what day will be the worst for Michigan.

Data and zones are subject to change as the forecast period gets closer, but right now, heat index values could be topping out in the 90s to low 100s on Wednesday and especially on Thursday across parts of both peninsulas. At the same time, plenty of moisture will be moved into the Upper Midwest, allowing for the combination of heat and humidity to translate to strong thunderstorm development.

As they continue, this is cause for concern for heavy wind damage:

These often very hot weather severe setups are when we get the damaging wind events, and long-range models are already beginning to hint at this storm mode.

How the rest of the week will turn out will have to be monitored, but it’s not out of the realm of impossibilities that daytime high temperatures will hit 90° halfway through the week, even without the heat index. As it stands now, it appears the most dangerous weather for our area will be Thursday, June 11th.

Hopefully, the severe weather subsides, and we can enjoy some nice spring days ahead.
