Is Your Favorite JCPenney Closing Soon? Here’s What To Know
The more time goes on, the more these big box stores like TJ Maxx, Sears, and JCPenney are starting to lose a bit of ground, and recently, an affiliate of Onyx Partners announced that they would be buying 119 JCPenney stores for nearly $1 billion, with the total price tag coming in at $947 million.
The deal is expected to be wrapped up on September 8, but with the new ownership on the horizon, many are unsure as to whether or not these stores will remain open once they’re sold.
JCPenney has been in a restructuring phase since coming out of bankruptcy in 2020, but now 119 of its stores are about to be purchased.
It turns out that there are six JCPenney stores that will be sold in Michigan, so residents who live near these stores may want to check the store out just in case the new owners end up closing them at some point.
