West Michigan is about to lose some Fifth Third Bank locations as the company has announced that 75 of its branches will be closing in Michigan, including 55 former Comerica Bank locations that were taken over by Fifth Third Bank.
In West Michigan, everywhere from Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Portage, Lawton, Lawrence, Dowagiac, Niles, Saint Joseph, South Haven, Allegan, and Hamilton, there are dozens of Fifth Third Bank ATM locations that may soon be closing after Fifth Third Bank recently announced the closing of its branches.
Reports say that 55 of the 75 branches expected to close are Comerica Bank locations, and 20 have been long-standing Fifth Third locations. Fifth Third currently owns Comerica, which is why their locations are shutting down as well.

Here are the local Comerica locations that will close:

  • 215 N. 20th St., Battle Creek
  • 5080 W. Main St., Kalamazoo
  • 2025 Whites Road, Kalamazoo

Here is the local Fifth Third location that will close:

  • 136 East Michigan Ave., Kalamazoo
The one saving grace of this is that the bank has said most of the locations that will be shut down have another Fifth Third Bank within 1 mile, so most of the locations shutting down shouldn’t be in rural areas.
Even after the closures, there will still be 227 locations throughout 140 different areas.
In their statement, Fifth Third said it is:
building a stronger, more efficient branch network that supports customers today and positions the Bank for long-term sustainable growth in Michigan and across our expanded footprint.
There's no word yet on when each individual location is set to close, only that it would be taking place this year.
