Uncover The Tales Behind Michigan’s Forgotten Ghost Towns
Even before it became a state, Michigan has been around for a long time, and there are so many different settlements that have been established since the population began to swell.
Of course, there are unmeasurable locations throughout the state that we may never know were once villages of the natives that once lived here. But as the population grew, and the country expanded, Michigan has seen its fair share of towns that came and went, came and evolved, and towns that have straight up, disappeared from the map.
In the early days of Michigan being a state, there were many cities throughout the upper and lower peninsula that usually had one or two major sources of business that would keep the town alive.
When business was bad or on the verge of collapse, the town would fold with it. Because of that, there are so many ghost towns in Michigan that naming them all and identifying them all would take days.
Below, we’ve gathered some of the most interesting ghost towns, some of which still show remnants of days long gone, and some of them with absolutely no physical proof that a town ever existed in the area.
Towns that have literally disappeared off the map, with only a name attached to the geographical location. Let us know on the app of some other ghost towns you think we should highlight.
