$1 Prices Could Be Returning To Michigan Dollar Trees After Billion Dollar Family Dollar Sale
Back when Dollar Tree announced that it would be hiking up prices for most of its products from one dollar to $1.25, it raised a lot of concerns for people who are living under their budget and are forced to shop at Dollar Tree for the everyday items that they need to survive.
Even the small $.25 change in price adds up when people are getting a lot of products. Hopefully, some of these Dollar Tree locations in Michigan that raise their prices will be able to bring most of those back down to a dollar, after recently announcing the Dollar Tree would be selling their Family Dollar stores to another company.
In a Press Release made by Dollar Tree, they announced all of the companies involved in the transaction and how much the deal was worth:
Dollar Tree, Inc. (NASDAQ: DLTR) today announced that the Company has reached an agreement under which Brigade Capital Management, LP (“Brigade”) and Macellum Capital Management, LLC (“Macellum”) will partner to acquire the Company’s Family Dollar business segment. Family Dollar will remain headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia. The purchase price for Family Dollar, under the terms of the agreement, is $1,007.0 million, subject to customary closing adjustments.
That's a LOT of money, and although they said the sale would help Dollar Tree expand its inventory and strengthen the stores that are still embracing the $1 dollar prices, they haven't announced if this extra $1 Billion that they've acquired will mean the stores which have increased prices, will roll them back.
