Tons of people will tell you that they never want to have children for a number of reasons but there is also a large group of people that will talk your ear off about wanting to be a parent one day. There are parents who will tell you that you should think twice about becoming a parent and to make sure you're ready while the other half will tell you to have them as soon as possible because there is no greater gift to life.

Everyone has a different idea of what parenthood will be like and most of us have the choice to decide if we will experience that or not. Unfortunately, for some people, that choice is taken from them and they must rely on alternate methods to become a parent. Most of the time that means going the adoption route but there has always been the option of having a surrogate mother as well.

A surrogacy pregnancy is where a woman will carry a baby for a couple who can't conceive a child of their own for whatever the reason may be. There are multiple ways for this procedure to occur but it hasn't been available for Michigan residents for decades. Now, a new law surrounding surrogate pregnancy is going to allow those individuals to become parents.

Michigan Signs New Surrogate Law Providing Hope For Michigan Parents

The Michigan Family Protection Act went into effect on Wednesday April 9th and has legalized compensated gestational surrogacy. This means that parents that can't conceive themselves are able to pay a willing and able woman to carry their baby to term. This has made it easier for mothers in Michigan to find surrogate mothers as they won't be forced to do so with no compensation.

Up until wednesday, compensated surrogacy was illegal and that included paying for the mothers medical bills and other expenses. This led to many woman choosing to not participate or for mothers to pay a surrogate from another state to avoid any legal troubles. Surrogate agencies in the state have already received tons of interests and mothers that want to be surrogates after the signing of the bill.

This will make the process so much easier and smoother for both the surrogate mothers and the families that are requesting the services. This is a chance for mothers across the state of Michigan to give back to others and allow them to experience the greatness of motherhood.
