Over the last 15-20 years, several class action lawsuits have been filed. Many businesses have been criticized for violating the laws or harming American citizens, which has led to some punishments. Most of the time, these companies will agree to a settlement to avoid any extremely heavy penalties.

The settlements are meant to make the company feel like it is being held accountable without losing everything. If you ask me, it's like a slap on the wrist, but there is some benefit for those who have been affected by their choices. The money that the courts receive from the settlement is then distributed to those who can confirm they were a victim of this company's negligence.

There is a measuring cup that may be sitting in your cabinet right now that could earn you some money. No, you don't have to sell to get rid of your measuring cup but due to a vital error, you are entitled to some cash. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) filed a class action lawsuit against Instant Brands.

The FTC announced that they were pursuing a lawsuit against the Instant Brands company for their glass Pyrex measuring cups for a simple marketing plan gone wrong. They had misleading marketing on their products and have been sued for printing "Made in USA" on their products when in fact, they were made in China.

The FTC is sending out more than 88,000 dollars to Americans who have purchased the Pyrex measuring cups. They have announced that 10,259 customers have been mailed a refund check and should cash it within 90 days of receiving it. This would mean that each refund is about $8.
