With the weather getting nicer and summertime looming here in Michigan, there are going to be tons of people outside at all times of the day. One of the best parts about Michigan is that there are plenty of ways to enjoy the nice weather both during the night and day. While we are all free to enjoy ourselves and the world around us, we are all subject following the laws and ordinances put in place by the government.

We may not always agree with the laws and feel that some of them are unnecessary or outdated, but we are still required to adhere to them regardless of our feelings. Every single state and a lot of cities have weird laws that shouldn't be in existence anymore like not being able to serenade your girlfriend in Kalamazoo or your pig only being able to run loose in Detroit if it has a nose ring.

While those are weird laws, there are some laws that are almost universal. For example, there are noise laws and ordinances in every city and state to help keep the peace. Most of this is designed around heavy machinery and other loud noises but does apply to humans as well. We are used to the ordinances blocking loud noises and other activities at the time of day but in some places, they take it to the extreme.

Is A No Hooting Law Coming To Michigan?

Buffalo, New York is home to one of the most unique noise laws and it could be useful if it came to Michigan. In fact, yelling, shouting or hooting at any time or place so as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort and repose of a reasonable person of normal sensitivities is illegal in Buffalo. This would mean arguments, unnecessary yelling, loud music, and many other loud noises would be illegal.

I don't know about you but there are plenty of times that I get bothered by loud noises, especially when I am sitting at home trying to enjoy some peace and quiet. I'm not sure I am a fan of the "any time or place" verbiage because I think there are times and places to be obscenely loud.

Would you be a fan of a "no hooting" law making it's way to Michigan? Here are some old and outdated laws that could still get you consequences here in Michigan:
