Michigan Families May Skip Thanksgiving For This Upsetting Reason
Once a year, on the last Thursday of the November, the Thanksgiving holiday is celebrated by many families across the United States. Families will get together and have all of their favorite Thanksgiving foods while enjoying time together. There are often family football games, family game time, and other activities that go down as well.
I don't know about you but I may love all of my family but that doesn't mean that I like all of them. Some of us are in families where we choose not to interact with some family members because of things that have happened in the past. This can make these holiday events and get togethers difficult as you are often in the same room as these individuals.
Thanksgiving is one of the hardest holidays to endure as the entire time is spent talking to each other, eating, spending time together and napping. This means that is can be even more difficult to stay away from those family members or controversial tropics. Some conversations that happen at the Thanksgiving table can have some drastic outcomes.
Family or not, there will be people who disagree with you and don't see eye to eye. For the most part, families are able to agree to disagree about these topics or just choose not to discuss them. One of the most common subjects that falls under this umbrella is politics which is often banned from being brought up at family gatherings.
With this year being an election year, some people will be pleased with the results while others will not. This is nothing new but as we all know, this year's election brought more emotional and mental damage than normal. This had led some people to tell their families that they may be skipping Thanksgiving.
These people said that they have chosen their sanity and happiness over family fun this year. I completely understand as having discussions about some of these topics can be triggering. So, if someone is missing from your Thanksgiving get together here in Michigan, it may be because of their political alignment.
